BEC publishes SAAEA 2019 Papers

Botswana Examinations Council has managed to publish a selection of 8 articles from the 2019 SAAEA Conference. The 8 papers were taken through a peer-review process and have been published in Special Issue of the on-line version of Mosenodi – A Peer Reviewed Journal of the Botswana Educational Research Association (BERA).

2019 PSLE Results Released

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2019 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results. A total of 47 518 (Forty Seven Thousand Five Hundred and Eighteen) candidates wrote the 2019 examination showing an increase in candidature of 2.34% from the 2018 candidature of 46 432 (Forty Six Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty Two). The 2019 cohort had 23 746 (49.97%) females and 23 772 (50.03%) males.

2019 EXAMINATIONS - BGCSE & JCE PRIVATE CANDIDATES REGISTRATION AND ONLINE REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

Private candidates are informed that registration will start on the 18th March to 26th April 2019 (For BGCSE and GCE O’ Levels) and Private candidates are informed that JCE Registration will start on the 13th March 2019 until 1st April 2019. The information regarding Registration can be accessed through the BEC website at www.bec.co.bw and BEC Facebook page (Botswana Examinations Council) and Twitter Account @Bots_Exams. BEC RELEASES 2018 BGCSE RESULTS

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2018 Botswana General Certificate for Secondary Education (BGCSE) examination results. A total of 32 470 candidates wrote the 2018 examination showing a decrease of 12.8% in candidature compared to the 2017 cohort of 37 251. There were 13 537 (41.69%) male candidates and 18 933 (58.31%) female candidates sitting for the 2018 BGCSE Examination. In 2018 there were 23 026 (70.91%) candidates from government and government-aided schools compared to 25 802 (69.27%) in 2017 and 9 444 (29.09%) private candidates compared to 11 449 (30.74%) in 2017. The private candidates’ category included 1 156 (3.56%) Back-to-School candidates, 1 354 (4.17%) candidates from Private Schools and 8 090 (24.92%) Private Candidates. The private candidates are from BEC Centres and Botswana Open University Centres.

2018 JCE RESULTS RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2018 Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE) Results. A total of 41 062 candidates registered to write the 2018 examination showing an increase of 0.41% in candidature compared to 40 896 candidates in 2017. There were altogether 40 353 candidates who actually sat and were awarded grades in the 2018 JCE compared to 40 079 candidates in 2017, which is a slight increase of 0.68% in the candidature. The slight increase has been observed in private centre candidates.

PRESS RELEASE - 2018 PRIMARY SCHOOL LEAVING EXAMINATION (PSLE) RESULTS RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2018 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results. A total of 46 432 (Forty Six Thousand Four Hundred and Thirty Two) candidates wrote the 2018 examination showing an increase in candidature of 4.5% from the 2017 candidature of 44 427 (Forty Four Thousand Four Hundred and Twenty Seven). The 2018 cohort had 23 425 (50.45%) females and 23 007 (49.55%) males. The female candidates outperformed their male counterparts in all subjects.

2017 BGCSE RESULTS RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2017 Botswana General Certificate for Secondary Education (BGCSE) examination results. A total of 37 251 candidates wrote the 2017 examination showing an increase of 5.04% in candidature compared to the 2016 cohort of 35 465. There were 15 590 (41.85%) male candidates and 21 661 (58.15%) female candidates sitting for the 2017 BGCSE Examination.
