REGISTRATION FOR THE OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011 BOTSWANA JUNIOR CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS (JCE)

Private candidates are informed that registration will start on the 21st February 2011 to 15th April 2011.

For details of how to register, candidates should contact the JCE office at Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) building, Plot No. 54864 located along Western by Pass between Mass Media Complex (Btv) and Westgate Mall. The telephone number is 3650700.


All private candidates must pay the following fees:
Registration fee : P20.00
Subject fee : P10.00 per subject


The fees should be forwarded to the Executive Secretary – Botswana Examinations Council building together with the completed form by 15th April 2011.


The public is informed that the Botswana Examinations Council has opened a Registration Office in Francistown at BOCODOL offices. BOCODOL candidates and other candidates from surrounding areas who wish to register for JC examinations can register with BEC in Francistown on the following dates:

21 – 25 March 2011 and 11 – 15 April 2011


JCE BOCODOL candidates in Gaborone should register at BEC headquarters in Gaborone.
Entry Procedures For Private Candidates


1. Choice and number of subjects to be taken by private candidates 

  • a) The total number of subjects required for the award of a qualification is; seven (7) compulsory/core subjects, one (1) practical subject and one (1) general subject.
  •  b) Private candidates who aim to obtain a Junior Certificate must sit for at least nine subjects, which are as follows:
  • • Setswana
  • • English
  • • Mathematics
  • • General Science
  • • Social Studies
  • • Private Agriculture
  • • Moral Education
  • One subject from the General Subjects;
  • • Religious Education
  • • French
  • One subject from the Practical Subjects;
  • • Commerce
  • • Bookkeeping/Accounting
  • • Office Procedures

2. Examination Centres

  • BEC has examination centres in the following venues: Gaborone, Francistown, Maun, Serowe, Selebi Phikwe, Palapye, Mahalapye, Mochudi, Molepolole, Kanye, Lobatse, Ramotswa, Jwaneng and Kasane.

  • Candidates are expected to make three choices regarding the examination venue but admission into these centres is on first come first serve basis.
