Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) wishes to inform its stakeholders and the public that the 2021 PSLE, JCE and BGCSE registration and payment for private candidates can be done online. To be able to register and pay online, private candidates will require Internet access and sufficient network coverage. Payment can be made online with the aid of Orange Money, VISA Card (Debit or Credit), Master Card and through FNB Online banking, FNB Cellphone banking, FNB ATM with deposits, FNB App, and through FNB Branches.

2020 BOTSWANA GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION (BGCSE) EXAMINATION RESULTS ARE RELEASED Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2020 Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) examination results. A total of 36 557 candidates wrote the 2020 examination showing a small increase in candidature compared to the 2019 cohort of 36 508. There were 15 297 (41.84%) male candidates and 21 260 (58.16%) female candidates.

2020 JUNIOR CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS (JCE) HAVE BEEN RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2020 Junior Certificate Examination (JCE) Results. A total of 43 883 candidates sat for the examination showing an increase of about 7% in candidature compared to 41 048 candidates in 2019. There were 21 683 (49%) male candidates and 22 200 (51%) female candidates sitting for the 2020 Junior Certificate Examination.

2020 PRIMARY SCHOOL LEAVING EXAMINATION (PSLE) RESULTS RELEASED

Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2020 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results. A total of 46 063 (Forty Six Thousand and Sixty Three) candidates wrote the 2020 examination showing a decrease in candidature of 3.06% from the 2019 candidature of 47 518 (Forty Seven Thousand Five Hundred and Eighteen). The 2020 cohort had 22 762 females and 23 301 males. The female candidates outperformed their male counterparts in all subjects.

CALL FOR 2020 JCE EXAMINERS

The Botswana Examinations Council is pleased to inform the public that following the advice of the Presidential Covid-19 Task Force, a decision was taken to decentralise the 2020 marking such that, unlike in the previous years where marking was centralised at Gaborone, the exercise should take place in different COVID-19 zones across the country. The 2020 Examiners are not allowed to mark outside their COVID-19 zones. Therefore, all examiners are only appointed to mark in their respective COVID-19 zones as inter-zonal movement is not permitted during this time. The 2020 marking venues have been allocated as per the following COVID-19 zones: Junior Certificate Examinations (JCE) i.GREATER GABORONE ZONE Moral Education 2, Setswana 3, English 3, Mathematics 2, Integrated Science 2, General Science, Commerce and OP, Commerce & Accounting, ii. GREATER FRANCISTOWN ZONE Agriculture 2, Social Studies 2, Religious Education 2, Setswana 2, English 2 iii. MAUN ZONE French 1,2,3, Music1,2, English 4, Design & Technology, Commerce & OP 1,4, Commerce & Accounting 1,4, Agriculture 4, Home Economics 1, Physical Education 1. On the basis of the above, the 2020 Examinations potential examiners are encouraged to apply for marking vacancies within their COVID-19 zones. Closing date is 24th November, 2020. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has developed rules and guidelines in order to mitigate the spread of the corona virus at examination centres during the administration of examinations.
